Good Company is a mixed ensemble of some twenty experienced singers dedicated to the study and performance of music from the chamber choral repertoire. Our size and clarity of sound lend themselves well to the performance of madrigals, motets, and other intimate vocal forms from various style periods.
While many of us hold degrees in music or perform professionally, most of us are engaged in professions other than music for our livelihoods. Motivated by a passion for choral music, we share an interest in programming and casting a more mature light on a repertoire which is rarely heard outside of an academic setting.
Founding director Karen Weaver's original concept for Good Company was to gather together experienced singers in a relaxed, nurturing environment for the purpose of studying and mastering wonderful examples from the choral repertoire. The original singers were handpicked by the director and began rehearsing in January 1995 with no set performance plans. Our first public appearance was in June 1995.
Since then we've established a regular concert series, incorporated as a not-for-profit organization, and released a CD, A Rose E'er Blooming, which features music for Advent and Christmas and is available at the group’s concerts or can be purchased by sending an email via the Contact Us link. We have traveled together to perform at the GALA choral festival in San Jose California, and locally we have been invited to sing at the The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, and the Cleveland Museum of Art.
Good Company is a tax-exempt, non-profit 501.c(3) organization. As such, it is administered by a Board of Directors elected by the membership of Good Company.
